Political Climate Minimize

Haiti is a republic with a long history of political instability and corruption.  President Rene Preval, taking office in 2006, has worked to change this image for the past several years.  In the spring of 2008, prime minister Jacques-Edouard Alexis was forced out after multiple food riots and protests within the country.  Michele Pierre-Louis was brought into power in September of 2008 in the hopes of making a change. In November 2009 she was replaced by Jean-Max Bellerive. Now the election results of November 2010 are still inconclusive
